A high-energy night of classic rock is coming to Dina’s Tavern in support of the Toronto Humane Society.

Toronto-based band The Mid-Century Modernes will perform a three-set live show, raising funds and awareness for animal welfare initiatives — including the Humane Society’s unique rat adoption program.

About the Event

The evening will also feature a presentation highlighting current initiatives from the Toronto Humane Society, with a spotlight on adoptable animals like Huey and Duey.

Rats, often misunderstood, are described by THS as intelligent, social, and highly trainable animals. The adoption program aims to challenge common misconceptions and help more of these animals find homes.

About Toronto Humane Society

The Toronto Humane Society works to improve the lives of animals through:

  • Finding loving homes

  • Providing veterinary care

  • Supporting pet owners in need

  • Advocating for stronger animal protection laws

Their mission focuses on building a community where animals are treated with care and respect.

About The Mid-Century Modernes

The Mid-Century Modernes are a Toronto-based band known for their classic rock sound spanning the 1960s through the MTV era.

The lineup includes:

  • Jaime Valentine (vocals, multi-instrumentalist)

  • Doug McClement (bass, vocals)

  • Lynda Kraar (vocals, multi-instrumentalist)

  • Kevin Bell (guitar)

They also serve as the house band for recording engineer graduating classes at the Harris Institute.

Why the Rat?

The fundraiser was created by band co-founder Lynda Kraar, with the goal of supporting animal welfare through live music.

The rat theme ties together several elements:

  • Dina’s Tavern features a rat in its logo
