This guide highlights some of the best free workout classes in Toronto, all of which I’m personally trying and reviewing. If you’re looking for welcoming spaces, good energy, and workouts that feel worth your time, you’re in the right place.

How I Rate Free Workout Classes in Toronto

As I test each free workout in Toronto, I’ll be sharing honest ratings based on:

  • Positivity and overall vibe and friendliness

  • Studio space and amenities

  • Intensity of the workout

My goal is to help you find free workouts that feel inclusive, comfortable, and genuinely enjoyable, not intimidating. Whether you’re new to fitness or just studio hopping, this list is here to help you find your fit. Have a recommendation for me to review? Send me an email!

FREE First Classes:

Dance, strength, cardio

📍4 Charles St E, Toronto

Shine Fit is a dance-based, body-positive, anti-diet culture studio that welcomes everyone. They offer a free first in-person class, plus free virtual classes every Wednesday. Their class lineup includes dance, cardio, and strength-based workouts.

My review:

If you’re looking for a sleek, ultra-aesthetic studio with mood lighting, spa-like showers, and Dyson dryers, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want a genuinely fun workout led by friendly, accepting, body-positive people, this absolutely might be.

These are hands down the best vibes I’ve experienced in any Toronto fitness class. I didn’t feel self-conscious about my body or my outfit for a second—I felt celebrated by the women around me. The instructor made an effort to learn everyone’s name, offered thoughtful corrections throughout the class, and somehow made the workout feel fun while also being surprisingly intense.

Vibes: Immaculate. You’ll leave feeling glowy, light, and surrounded by genuinely kind people.

Studio space: No frills, cozy basement energy.

Intensity: Massively underestimated it. I was sore for days (in a good way). 10/10.

Pilates

📍849 Eglinton Ave E, Toronto

This studio is brand new and you can tell they want to be more than the run-of-the-mill downtown pilates studio. It feels intentionally crafted to give a great experience and is a place you'll want to hang out before and after class. No rush vibes and easygoing people. Their free Sunday classes are an awesome place to get started and they have tons of add-ons available, like red light therapy, vitamin boosters and more.

My review:

If you're tired of being jam-packed in with 60 people and having nowhere to put your bag, this place will feel like a breath of fresh air. They are curating something really great, and I am excited to see how this studio continues to bloom. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a vitamin D shot and exploring the recovery options available. It's not super accessible by TTC but if you're in the Yonge & Eglinton area, I would highly recommend giving the free Sunday Service class a try.

Vibes: Gorgeous, spacious, light and flowy. Nice people, and outside of the downtown core, so not super influencer-y.

Studio space: Tons of extra amenities like red light therapy booth, compression therapy, hydration IV treatment and vitamin booster shots.

Intensity: I did a yoga/pilates fusion class that was relaxing with minimal burn. A nice intro for beginners with additional options for more advanced levels.
